Abstract Block Repeats

I had lots of fun creating these seamless block repeats. I enjoy turning my paintings into patterns by joining them up. I like to paint in a very free way and when I create repeats I find joining up the seams a challenge and the designs become quite structured in contrast.

Abstract half drop repeats

Here are some designs from my latest project. I wanted to create a fresh and painterly feel to the patterns I developed from paintings within my sketchbook. All the designs have been worked into a seamless half drop repeat, this was a long but worthwhile process.

  

Christmas Cards

Of course I increased my washi tape collection whilst in Japan when shopping in Loft. When I came back home I felt inspired to create my own christmas cards using the washi tape to make up festive shapes and designs. This was a fun activity and I watched christmas movies too. 

Japanese Sweets

I have just got back from a really inspiring trip to Japan. I had such a lovely time and one of the things I enjoyed the most was the sweets! Of course they are all to pretty to eat and are beautifully packaged. They will also make excellent presents with christmas on its way...

Bath Christmas Market 2012

This weekend the 'mums' came to stay... well my mum and my boyfriend's mum travelled to Bath  to spend the weekend with us. We went to the Christmas Market and it was very busy, thankfully Matt's mum was wearing a beautiful red tartan coat so we could find each other fairly easily. There was lots of festive cheer to go around and some really lovely things for sale. We tried lots of yummy treats to include traditional mince pies and mulled wine. Here are some photographs I took, the decorations were beautiful and the way the products were styled was really inspiring.
