I have started to look at Marimekko fabrics. I like the hand drawn style of the designs which I have been practicing with the wacom pen and touch tool. I like the colour combinations and of course some of the themes are very relevant to my current project. It is great having a blog because now I can have this page open on my tabs to look at with all my Marimekko inspiration, like a page in my sketchbook. It is important to take note of the changing scale of the designs as well as the mark making.

Bennison Fabrics
I would like to make some repeat prints soon and I felt that I needed some inspiration to help me. I recently discovered Bennison Fabrics, I think the designs have been beautifully repeated and I think the florals are both traditional yet wonderful.

Birthday Gift Wrap
It is my boyfriend's birthday very soon and he is going to be 30. We are currently organizing a party and I am very excited to be celebrating with him. Below are some of my favourite gift wrap ideas.
They are probably just a tad on the girlie side but like any idea you can apply it in certain ways to suit you or in this case my boyfriend. I have linked each image to the original source.
If you have any fun party ideas please do share.

Abstract Inspiration
Here are some beautiful abstract images I have researched for my current textiles project. I have linked each image to their original sources. I love the colours and I am going to try and create my own versions but in pastel shades with pops of neon and gold. I found all of these on pinterest. Gosh pinning is so addictive...

Imogen Heath
I first discovered Imogen Heath whilst flicking through my Elle Decoration magazine. I was drawn towards her collection of linen/cotton-mix fabrics. Imogen is a surface pattern and textiles designer based in Brighton and started up her own design business in July 2011 where she launched her first small range of home decoration product at the New Designers One Year On exhibition. I love the collections creative approach towards pattern and mark making and in particular her ditzy florals.

Dancing at Dusk
I discovered Dancing at Dusk a while ago thanks to Daydream Lily. They have a small collection of homewares and accessories. I think the collection of items for sale has been really well thought out for a small business, they have stunning cards, cushions and zip bags for sale, which must attract a range of people. I am currently selling my collection of cards, I know I have a big collection so I thought I would put them all out there to see what would be the most popular... then I can stop making the ones that don't sell.

Karina Manarin
I love these hand dyed speckled t-shirts by Karina Manarin. The hand painted style is really inspiring. Karina uses acid wash techniques and indigo dyes to create these experimental designs. You can purchase these beauties here.
